Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands will visit United Nations headquarters in New York from Monday evening, August 28, to Tuesday, August 29, in her capacity as the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA).

On August 29, Queen Máxima will present her 2023 UNSGSA Annual Report covering the last 12 months of progress regarding her UN activities to Secretary-General António Guterres.

The report, written under the theme, “Creating a Path Toward Resilience and Opportunity,” illustrates how accessible, affordable, and secure financial services—especially digital—can enhance development opportunities. These benefits extend to traditionally underserved groups such as the poor, women, smallholder farmers, and micro-, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

The Special Advocate will also engage in internal discussions at the United Nations.
